Abstract: Affected by the continuous heavy rainfall, the urban area of Jintang County, Sichuan Province and some streets along the river experienced catastrophic floods from August 10th to 17th, 2020. After the flood, the county party committee and the county government followed the general requirements of "safety first, avoiding dangers first" and the principles of "early evacuation of personnelpublic, all vehicles out of the warehouse, pavement upgrading, and the supply of materials", based on the prevention and resistance of major floods, the emergency measures of early deployment, decisive decision-making, ahead command, avoidance first and coordinated cooperation are formed, which ensure the safety of people's lives and propertiesy. Based on the analysis of the causes and countermeasures of the "2020.8.17" flood disaster, this paper puts forward some solutions to the future flood disasters in Jintang County.
