Abstract: Understanding the evolution of natural disaster prevention in China is important to prevent the occurrence of natural disasters and reduce human casualties and economic losses, as natural disasters occur frequently in China with huge human casualties and economic losses. With the help of Citespace 6.1R3 tool, the research progress and trends of natural disaster prevention and control in China in the past 20 years were sorted out based on the literature data of natural disaster prevention and control in China from 2000 to 2020 at home and abroad. The results show that the number of articles published in natural disaster prevention and control research in China has shown an overall trend of growth in English and Chinese, among which the number of articles published in Chinese has shown a fluctuating development trend and the number of articles published in English has shown an overall "w"-shaped development trend. The authors of natural disaster prevention and control research are widely distributed, the institutions are relatively scattered, and the disciplines are diversified. Basic research on natural disasters, mechanism construction and capacity enhancement are the hotspots of natural disaster prevention and control. Comprehensive natural disaster mitigation and management, the integration of natural disaster prevention and control with digitalization and industrialization, and timely natural disaster prevention and control concepts are the future research trends.
