Suggestions and applications for improving hydrological frequency calculation software

Abstract
Pearson Ⅲ (P-Ⅲ) hydrological frequency curve is widely used in China and is an important scientific basis for calculating engineering hydrological design values. To solve the problems of heavy workload in traditional hydrological frequency calculation and inadequate optimization of existing hydrological frequency calculation software, a hydrological frequency calculation method has been developed using the visualization function of Excel and the characteristics of VBA window. This method can complete empirical frequency calculation, statistical parameter calculation and optimization, design value deduction, etc. in frequency calculation, especially avoiding manual calculation of Φ and KP value tables in the Γ distribution, greatly improving the efficiency and accuracy of frequency calculation. The output of this method is beautiful, clear, and practical, with the ability to adjust the format and layout for printing. It is also easy to operate and master, and has broad application prospects.
