Analysis of capacity changes of Wanggedu Reservoir in Yulin City, Shaanxi Province based on sedimentation

Abstract
Sediments have a huge impact on the efficiency and safe operation of reservoirs. In order to scientifically grasp the sedimentation situation during the trial storage period of Wanggedu Reservoir in Yulin City, Shaanxi Province, and provide technical support for the subsequent operation and management of the reservoir, based on the water storage situation of Wanggedu Reservoir and the measurement of sedimentation, the cross-sectional method was used to explore the sedimentation amount, distribution and morphology, storage capacity, and composition of sedimentation in Wanggedu Reservoir. The results showed that due to the collapse and landslide of the reservoir bank and the sediment carried by the reservoir water, the storage capacity of Wanggedu Reservoir decreased by 0.037 billion m3 at the normal water level, which is less than the initial reserved sediment storage capacity of 209 million m3. This research has accumulated experience for the study of sediment deposition in reservoirs in the Loess Plateau region.
